Eighteen months after its first funding round (pre-seed), the Lyon-based startup has gone from 100 corrected copies per week to 2,500 per day, and is preparing its rollout across all 50 US states.
Lyon, September 10, 2026 – Ed.ai, the EdTech startup that equips teachers with an AI assistant for grading and pedagogical remediation, announces a €5 million equity seed round. This new milestone, 15 months after a first funding round of €1.7 million, will enable Ed.ai to double its headcount, accelerate its expansion in the United States and Europe, and prepare its entry into higher education, both in France and across the Atlantic.
The round was completed with Bpifrance via its Digital Venture fund, La Poste Ventures — a fund initiated by La Poste Groupe and managed by XAnge — and 50 Partners. Ed.ai's existing investors also renewed their confidence on this occasion: AFI Ventures (Ventech's impact fund), CentraleSupélec Venture, Ring Capital via its Generations fund powered by EDHEC, and Super Capital. Following these investments, Nadia Amal, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth division at Docaposte (Pronote), joins the company's board of directors.
Equipping teachers, betting on the copies
Teachers are the primary architects of their students' success, but none of them can individually support more than a hundred each year. Faced with both those who fall behind and those who plateau, they often feel powerless. This is the ceiling Ed.ai wants to lift, by amplifying their impact. To do this, the startup taps into a resource that has remained largely untapped until now: student assignments, where each page is analyzed as thoroughly as if ten teachers had spent an hour on it, then handed back to the teacher, who retains the pedagogical decision.
This analysis isn't built in a vacuum: 30% of Ed.ai's team are former teachers, and the tool is developed with teacher-authors in every country where it is deployed. The technology gives teachers unprecedented capacity to pinpoint gaps, address them at the right moment, and reclaim the time needed to differentiate their teaching. Ed.ai's ambition is to become the trusted partner of an education system that leaves too many students behind.
2,500 copies corrected per day, aiming for two million
Over the past year, Ed.ai's usage has scaled dramatically. In September 2025, the platform processed 100 corrected copies per week, across two subjects (French and mathematics), from 6th grade through the final year of high school. By June 2026, it reached 2,500 copies per day, across ten subjects covering all of middle and high school, plus an initial mathematics offering deployed in the United States at the middle and high school level. In total, Ed.ai has processed more than 100,000 copies over the past six months. At the current growth rate, the number of copies processed worldwide is expected to reach two million over the 2026-2027 school year.
This rollout is now backed by solid early proof of adoption: in two surveys conducted with the Lyon education authority (académie de Lyon) and the Île-de-France academic region, 9 out of 10 teachers say they intend to reuse or recommend Ed.ai next year. This adoption is also driven by the precision of the diagnosis: by identifying each student's individual errors, the tool gives teachers free rein to build personalized remediation activities, a source of motivation for their classes.

“In just one year, we've gone from a handful of pilot classrooms to hundreds of schools, with a repeat-usage rate above 85% among the teachers who test us. This funding gives us the means to match our ambitions: industrialize what's working in France, and replicate that same trust in the United States, where we've taken the time to build the product hand in hand with teachers.”

“We were won over by Ed.ai's ambition to make AI-assisted grading an indispensable everyday tool for teachers, in service of every student's success. This vision, driven by an experienced team recognized for building digital solutions for education, convinced us to lead this funding round.”

“The EdTech sector needs solutions that integrate natively into existing practices rather than disrupt them: that's exactly Ed.ai's thesis, and the adoption figures in France, as well as early feedback from the US, confirm it.”
France: from 120 to 500 schools
For the 2026 school year, Ed.ai is deployed in 500 schools in France and aims for a presence across all French academic regions, up from half that number last year. The solution is now integrated into schools' digital work environments (ENT) and student management software, including ÉcoleDirecte and Pronote. This step change follows more than a year of structuring partnerships, notably with the Lyon education authority, the project's historical birthplace, where a third year of experimentation is now underway.
United States: from five to 50 states
In spring 2026, the startup covered five states. It is now available and compliant with mathematics curricula in all 50 US states at the middle and high school level, with several tens of thousands of students expected to use the solution this school year. This expansion was driven in part by the hiring of the company's first US employees and a local network of teacher-authors. The platform plans to expand into other subjects within a year and launch pilots with American universities. Two are already signed, with the University of Maryland and Francis Marion University in South Carolina.
A round to multiply headcount and accelerate on four fronts
The funds raised will primarily be used to:
- Accelerate Ed.ai's development in France and internationally, particularly in the United States, notably by doubling its headcount.
- Grow the community of teachers using Ed.ai to help make AI-assisted grading a standard in secondary education.
- Extend the platform to all subjects taught in secondary school as well as higher education, and strengthen its pedagogical analysis and personalized remediation capabilities.
- Measure pedagogical impact, by conducting studies demonstrating the effect of Ed.ai's use on student progress and teacher well-being.
The startup plans to surpass one million copies processed per month worldwide within 24 months.
